First Volume of AM-MIR Magazine...
      ARARI has published its first bi-annual agricultural research magazine (named AM-MIR) for circulation. The purpose of this magazine is to
share with the research community and the general public news, reports, and/or some of the reserach findings of the institute. The magazine is published both in Amharic and

Training on wheat grain quality analyses and quality improvment offered ...
      In order to make functional the new grain quality laboratory established at ARARI, training on wheat grain quality analyses improvement was offered at ARARI, HQ in collaboration with CIMMYT (Maize & Wheat International Research Institute). Dr. RJ. Pena (principal scientist) and Mr. H. Gonzalez from CIMMYT had offered a series of training on
theoretical and practical aspects of wheat quality improvement from July 16 - July 30, 2007. The trainees were from Adet Agricultural Research Center, Gonder
Agricultural Research Center, Sekota Dryland Agricultural Research Center, Debre Berhan Agricultural Research Center, BOARD of Amhara Region,
and Sinana Agricultural Research Center. The objective of the training was to enhance the understanding of participants on the imporatnce of grain quality for
sustainable wheat production. During their two weeks of stay the two scientist did setup a Nutrition & Grain Quality laboratory at ARARI head quarter.

Dtabase and Web page Development, and Laboratory Equipment maintenance for 10 days training ...
      From July 23 to August 3, 2007, Dr. Dawit Haile, Chair of Department of Mathematics & Computer Science at Virginia State University and Dr. Pena Hamama, Senior scientist at Virginia State University had offered a series of trainings on database management systems, webpage development and laboratory equipment maintenance.
In addition to the training, Dr. Haile also had met with the dean of the school of Science and Engineering and faculty members in the Department of Computer Science at Bahir Dar University (BDU). He evaluated the Computer Science program curriculum and made recommendations how to align the curriculum with ABET (Accrediting Board for Engineering and Technology) requirement.
Dr. Hamama had provided training on theoretical and practical aspects of laboratory equipment to ARARI, Adet Agricultural Research Center, and BDU Chemistry Department lab technician. The senior scientists ere sponsored through USAID AMAREW project and during their 10 days of stay the two scientists immensely contributed in their respective professions to ARARI and BDU.
